Hi, looking for a high end solution to connect my echo indigo io soundcard to my pioneer receiver which is hooked up to my Boston Acoustics VR975 floorstanding speakers. I'm currently thinking of getting Audioquest Diamondback 4M cables. But I need some sort of mini to rca adapter. Should I get Audioquest 3.5MM2RCA (their cheap hard mini to rca adapter) OR Audioquest Mini-5 + Audioquest RCA2RCA (female to female coupler)? Or do you experts have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My recommendation is for the Audioquest 3.5MM2RCA adapter. I've ended up buying three of them, I've found them to be so good-sounding and useful. I've found from my own listening and comparing that, a standard RCA pair cable that I know I like with the Audioquest adapter is more enjoyable to me than another make of mini-to-RCA. I've also compared (from the same maker) an RCA pair with the Audioquest adapter AND a mini to RCA. In the rig in my sig (decent, but definitely NOT high end) I heard no difference in terms of anything that enhanced or diminished my listening experience.
Just as an aside, this is NOT true for the Radioshack mini-to-RCA adapter in the same rig. The Radioshack offering VERY much diminishes the listening experience with blatantly rolled-off highs. Back when I had a less good source and no DAC, I tried the RCA pair with Radioshack adapter vs mini-to-RCA and heard no difference. So, these results are source-dependent, even with the same ears.
But with my home and work rigs, I've very much enjoyed the sound of the Audioquest 3.5MM2RCA adapter and the flexibility it allows me in using RCA pair cables that I know I like, rather than having to buy special mini-to-RCA cables for equipment requiring those end connectors.
I'm also currently looking for a cable to run from a Pioneer receiver to my headphone rig. I started looking at the Audioquest cables (partly because I like their adapter so much), but the discussions and impressions about them that I read on Head-Fi steered me away from the Audioquest cables. I'm currently looking into the offerings of www.bluejeanscable.com based on the generally more positive impressions I've read about them on Head-Fi and my reading of NeilPeart's public profile. I'm going to need a 15 foot cable and another 9 foot cable, and I don't want to break into my retirement account to buy them. If you DO go ahead and get the Audioquest cables, please DO post your impressions of them.
