It was really easy - just take out the two rubber bungs at top backplate to show 2 screws.

The battery seems to be replacable which is good news - seems to be a standard connector. Same goes with HardDrive.

Would be intrested from anyone in the know, if its possible to use a higher capacity Harddrive and battery for this samsung - should be possible. Are most hardrives the same depth? Seems to be standard laptop HD.

I couldnt take off the black strip to see what was writen on battery - it would have ripped it off

Hope these Pics help

The Toshiba MK4007GAL 40GB drive that is coming out soon will physically fit. Now whether or not that player's firmware will support it, I have no idea.
I don't see why not.

Yeah found that one - its 5mm drive too so will fit.

Anyone know of a beefy battery I can put in this?

Great pics, glad someone was crazy enough to open up their J70!

The harddrive is a standard toshiba 1.8" harddrive. You can get a 30gb harddrive which is identical is size as the standard one. All of the other harddrives that toshiba make are 3mm thicker, so if you measure and check that there is an extra 3mm room, you could theoretically use an 80gb drive!

Wow, the battery is only a 970mA? That's very impressive, considering the battery life of the player. Now, if we get a 1600mA battery or something, we could really have some fun!

I was really suprised how small phyically the battery is - so much smaller than even my mobile phone battery!
