Securing Cables

I find that, with my portable rig, sometimes when I move around when I'm sitting down the headphone connector will come out of my iPod if everything isn't nicely perfect in my pocket.

I'd like to figure out how to firmly secure the cable such that it can't pop out, for this reason and also to follow the age-old adage of never making an electrical connection a mechanical one.

Any ideas? I thought maybe elastics or something, but if anyone has something more... graceful, that'd be hot ****.

Did you notice how the iPod automatically pauses when the jack is pulled out? (my nano does it, at least).

Yeah, but that doesn't mean it's not inconvenient.

So, no actual solutions then? I might try cable ties, see if I can cut them and get them to wrap around properly.

Take a page from TV and use the same type clips they use to secure lavelier microphone cables to the suits/shirts of the talking heads.The best method is to clip the cord not at the player/amp exit but more near your head.By leaving some slack between the clip and your ears you retain movement but totally releive any pressure on the output jack.


Cable management is something that I actually pay close attention to 'cause there is nothing qorse than having a good jam interrupted by having the cans tear off your head or the plug pull out right in the middle of a song.I use colored velcro straps and clips extensively to wrap and secure cables
