Really? I love that recording on my k500s and k501s (when I still had them).

Gould sounds amazing on the 501, don't get me wrong..

the Grado's bring me deeper/closer to the music though and the timbre of the
Yamaha sounds just awesome imo.. Then again, I only experience this with
Gould's piano...

After receiving my WooAudio6 today, I have verified for myself that the K501 is superior to the K701 and most of my other headphones. It and the HD650 are probably the only headphones I'll use the WA6 with.

I just got my K501s back after 7 weeks of being at the menders... It's exactly like falling in love all over again. I bought some K701 pads to accompany the K501s. I thought of getting the K601 pads but they were out of stock. I love the K701 pads, they really do bring out the bass. But, from what I'm hearing here on the forums, the K601 pads are a much better choice.

I can get them pretty cheap ($17.50/pr), but there will be another 1-2 months wait. So as money is, for the first time, not a problem, should I go for the K601 pads as well and totally pimp out my K501s?

Dude, personally I love my 501 bass , eventhough I think the 601-701
pads will be slightly more comfy.. But nobody touches my 501 bass

K501's quality is fantastic, but IMO it can do with a little boost in quantity especially for songs with a double bass. I feel like the angled K701 pads are causing some sibilance, which is bad, but they're new, so I'm guessing this will improve right?

Have to try Grado's then! (Looks at wallet hiding under the desk...)

Go for the k601 pads and see if you like 'm. the k701 will keep you happy during the wait.

I agree, but I only use the 501 for jazz/classical, when I need bass, I turn to
the GS1k.. I would like to try the 601 pads though, since they look more comfy and are rather cheap.. Have to wait till they're in stock again

Don't know bout the burn-in of earpads though

I feel that the K501's bass is on the flabby side in comparison to the W5000. A little more quantity for Jazz and Classical wouldn't hurt either.

I've got to really sweat the pads down, It may sound disgusting but it leaves the pads really soft. Either that or i could wash them, but then I'm afraid they won't respond well to a soak.
