Broken HD 600 warranty replacement?

Hey all,

I have the opportunity to pick up a used HD 600 for a really good price. The only problem is that the right ear has stopped working. If these are still under warranty, would I be able to purchase them from the person and then send them to Sennheiser under my name to have them replaced?

Also, what kind of things does the warranty cover? This person said he dropped the headphones and then the right ear stopped working.

Nope, you would have to fix them yourselves, I know, the same thing happened to my 600s, the drivers are probably busted or the wires are cracked inside the cup, either way its a pain in the ass to fix. I might have mine fixed eventually but for now I have upgraded to the 650s.

So you called Sennheiser and they wouldn't replace them? I don't get it...

Yes, I actually sent them in and and they said that the drivers showed that they were broken from impact and that this was not covered by the 2 year warranty and it would cost ***.** for parts and labor. If you have ever dealt with Sennheiser you would know what I mean, their customer service isn't exactly friendly or very helpful.

Wow, that's ridiculous. May I ask how much they wanted to fix them?

It's not ridiculous if they get damaged or broken from misuse then the owner should pay for it. They'll cover it unless they can easily tell the problem is from gross misuse.

When I had a pair of 600s I think I was the 3rd owner of that pair and Senn replaced one of the drivers and the cable free of charge and no questions asked.

So do you guys think it would be pretty risky for me to purchase these phones?

I assume its the one on ebay that you are looking at? Well, if you can get them at a good price and you are decent with electronics repair then I would say go for it, the drivers aren't too bad in terms of pricing and if you can install them yourself you will save a bunch of cash but otherwise I would just get a set of used working 600s.

Ha ha. I really don't know much about repairing electronics. I can solder, that's about it. You don't think it's worth a shot to send them into Sennheiser?
