I'm willing to trade my McIntosh MR77 tuner for some really good high-end cans with an amplifier.
The MR77 is one of the best of the truly great McIntosh tuners. Produced from 1970-1978, the MR77 was designed by Richard Modafferi and is still one of the most popular, highly regarded and sought-after tuners today. If you record music from FM radio stations, you really can't do much better without spending thousands more. The stereo separation is outstanding. The sound and performance rival CD quality. With a decent antenna it pulls in hundreds of stations. And like all McIntosh components it was designed and built to last a lifetime.
Lots of things are advertised as "like new" but this all-time classic FM stereo tuner really is. I bought it from the original owner and I'm convinced that it was very rarely used. Functionally, the unit is perfect. It just had a $220 professional cleaning and alignment. Cosmetically, it's almost perfect. The black glass face plate is pristine with absolutely no bubbling. The chrome is beautiful. There are two tiny scratches in the black paint on the upper front edge. You won't notice them unless you're looking for them.
The tuner comes in a beautiful walnut McIntosh L52 slant-leg cabinet with Panloc brackets. The slant-legs (more like rails) are much more desirable than feet because they allow the unit to be stacked on top of another McIntosh cabinet, a preamp for example, all of which have ventilation grills on top.
Here are the specs provided by longtime McIntosh designer, Roger Russell.
