(Admittedly...) Damned silly question. - Page 2

NaOH, try maximum strength hair gel like the "sport" kind. You'll get hard spikes, but your hair should even survive wearing a beanie for a bit.

When I have gel in and want to wear headphones, I wear the headband on my neck. That, or I use speakers.

Actually, I suppose I should say that I'm not using "gel" in my hair, but "hair glue".

It's really stiff stuff, for those that know what hair glue is. The only problem is that it's pretty quick to flake.

I think this issue was brought once before - at least in the span of my membership here.

Yeah, headphones and hair products don't mix too well... that is, unless you're the type who doesn't care about how you look in public.

The way I deal with it is to listen to headphones at night before going to bed. I could care less about how I look then.

One trick might be to tilt back the headband so that it rest on that natural hair parting point on the upper back of your skull. I've found that, with a short hair cut, you can just run your fingers through your hair at that point a bit after listening and it'll look natural again.

Normally, I refrain from listening during the day partially because I don't want wax or gel building up on my headphones. Plus, I can't listen to a full size can at work so it seldom gets to be an issue. For daytime, canalphones works best.

This would make for some very interesting staging on a K-1000

I would suggest wax. After your hair is flattined, it is easy to repair.

Yeah, I get a flat spot and have to repair my hair in front of the bathroom mirror at work after I take off my phones. But I have a head of curly hair and it's not too hard.

Ideas?
Yes, use gel only superficially.

If you decide to use gel, a brand called Dep http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...UY-PLST-0-SRCH

works really well. I've tried other brands, they all flake very quickly unlike this one.

Do you want good looks or good sound?
Maybe it's time for a different hair style anyway.

I'm very well... introduced, lets say, to the standard gel fare. I find glue to be much better from a control standpoint, letting me get better results when my hair gets to 3 or 4 inches long.

Dude - 3 things:

1. Grab the trash can
2. Toss the gels/glues/spritz/whatever in
3. Get to a barber

Problem solved
