How do you blokes deal with hair gel?

I like to spike mine, but now I can't figure out how to do it and have headphones. I suppose I would have to just spike the front, but I'm afraid that might look dumb.

Ideas?

With the exception of extending the cups so that the headband never touches/squashes the hair (applicable only for those with abnormally small head), you can keep very short/spiky hairstyle and use the phones. As long as you do not remove them at all (and consequently reveal the 'squashed hair' area), you will look fine.

And what happened to the resolve to buy the metal Grados/Alessandros?

wear the cans like a DJ would : headband at the the back of your neck, cups up, instead of over the top of your head. Not as stable unless there is headband pressure but works if you don't bounce around too much (otherwise it is earbuds bud )

Now a days, you could pretty much take care of my hair with a washcloth. That said, quite a few personal appearance options are nothing but luxuries; be sure you are happy just paying for what you have got. As for headphones, my experience is that they style your noggin any way they want. You have to choose.

I second this, the person who cuts my hair told me never to wear it.

LA Looks extreme hold 10 will hold up to abuse from headphones. Granted, after taking them off and putting them on 3 times, it'll start to flake, but a bit of water and it's good as new.

Why?

And, metal ones would be super, but I don't have 400 dollars kicking around right now.

Yeah well.

I wouldn't want to lose respect from the Metul community, so the disclaimer is needed.

xD

I'll get rid of it at some point.

Oh, I wasn't insinuating that you should get rid of it...it is, after all, prety well organized, just a lot of info is all...

Gel + Headphone = Bad Hair? Yeah probably.

I think it depends some on the headphones though. I'm able to wear my HD580s without messing up my hair too much (though I haven't worn gel in a while) so I would guess they would be fine. But my HD280s on the other hand I'm sure could cut through anything short of epoxy.... Though I suppose you could go for the DJ look with them as has been suggested. The extra head clamping would make sure that they stayed on.
