huy_ha: lol! That's some funny stuff.

joelongwood: YOU DON'T HAVE THE SR60!????!!!!

wow....

Forget about the SR60 unless you can find an original pair with the original pads. Good clean fun.

Beagle, I think that TAS reviewer ended up preferring the HP-1s after sending his in for a cable upgrade. I mean, c'mon...SR-60s beating HP-1s? I knew something was fishy about the first part of that review...

Keep 'em............you can never have too many headphones!
LOL, as if this opinion surprised anyone coming from Joe.

If you part with them, there's gonna come a time when you're listening to a particular song and you'll say to yourself, "Mmmmmm, this would sound GREAT on my SR-60s
To be honest, I can't see that happening. I've been trying them out the past two days on many different kinds of music. While some people say that Grados are better than the HD600s at some kinds of music, it's obvious they're talking about the better Grados. The SR60s can't compete with the HD600s for *any* kind of music.

I guess the only time I might think that is if I was using a portable -- hmm. Maybe I'll keep them and take them to the office.

As for everyone talking about "original" Grados, let's put it this way: When I bought my SR60s, they had yellow pads

Actually, he preferred the SR60 to the HP-1 before he got the cable upgrade. After the upgrade, he still found the HP-1 to be a bit lacking in HF extention. And the Stereophile review of the RS-1, the reviewer found the SR125 "less coloured and more extended" than the RS-1.

But I think some of these reviews took the price difference into account, and when you compare a $69 headphone to a $595 one and find a similar common sound, you psychologically probably tend to overlook the flaws of the cheapie and pounce on the flaws of the expensive one. And again, the tastes of the reviewer will not be the same as everyone elses. But at that time, the $69 dollar SR60 was a steal. Say you found an HD600 for $80, you'd probably say it killed the Stax Omegas, even though it probably does not. The price factor enters into the bias equation.

MacDEF: How come you completely skipped over MY suggestion?

I am personally very offended.

yeah, give em to coolvij......or me, i'd pay the shipping!!

good idea, no?

"giving them to a "potential audiophile" friend or relative" would be the right thing to do. What better way to share the gift of music.
(and potentially create a new head-fi member! )

sapphiremodena is in canada - shipping within U.S. is cheaper

And I would, of course, pay shipping.....

how about making an ebay auction, except name make up a random name for it, and only tell it to headwizers/headfiers... I'd love to see coolvkj and sapphiremodena duke it out, only to see joelongwood come in at the last minute to win the auction

I'll be worth the $69 just to see this...

Give 'em to coolvij...

I think he'd really appreciate them
I would oh-so-much appreciate them!

thomas: auctions are bad......you're acting as if sapphiremodena and I are gladiators, both of whom will be destroyed by joelongwood - much to your delight....

Hey it's nothing personal coolvij
It's just that when it comes to buying headphones, Joe is the ultimate terminator

redwood: I dunno.....I've never seen Vertigo and joelongwood duke it out..then again, what headphone have neither of them heard......I know! AKG K1000 - an auction solely between the two......THAT would be fun.

And just give me the SR60s......

I bet the ebay servers would crash before the final bid - they are just not built for an electronic Godzilla vs. King Kong fight
