i'm also looking for any online or mail order places that have the Sony SCD-777ES. Does anyone know if its still in the market place or is it a discontinued model?

I'm pretty sure it's still current. If you're considering the 777ES, you might also consider the 333ES.

Unfortunately, the SCD-777ES is a discontinued model. You should not be able to find it in any stores, as any remaining stock was probably sold out. However, if you check http://www.audiogon.com, you'll find that many used models are circulating from anywhere between $1500 and $2800 each.

FYI, i talked to a Sony dealer today and he said Sony is going to release a multi channel version of the now discontinued SCD-777ES this Oct

I take it though that multi channel has no purpose if your a dedicated headphone listener...

I believe that model is called the SCD-XA777ES (it was at HE01 in NYC). It is a replacement for the SCD-777ES, but who knows if the build and bits are as good or better? It's anyone's guess, and we'll just have to see if it gets reviews like its father did.

Hi,

What is the best cheap transport cd matching Electrocompaniet ECD1 DAC? Someone told me NAD C515 is the best deal for my DAC! Is that true?

I have ECD1+ECi-1 amp with Audiobyte Hydra -x  ( I sell it for 550Euros for Offramp 4 or 5) with Foobar/Kernel Streaming on my Asus laptop.

Thank you,
