FS:Broken 4g 40g ipod and accessories

hey all,
jahn my great pal gave me this as a christmas present but i dont know what to do with it since i live in a small town without an apple store.

white 40gig 3rd(correction from above. i dont know much about ipods) generation ipod. in good cosmetic condition. also comes with a black slappa case. also included pocketdock.
original ipod buds and remote control and the original box.
jahn stated that he dropped it and it doesnt work. there are no obvious cracks and the lcd is not cracked or damaged in anyway. but as i stated above with no resources and the apple website wanting to charge 274 dollars to look at it i post it here so maybe a diyer can fix this cheap.
the ipod and all the extra accessories i am looking for 75 bucks plus shipping. if you are handy this can be your chance to snag one cheap. thanks for looking

1911 you fool, you just don't know the depths of my practical jokes. call apple - that ipod is actually still in warranty i just found out. i just got this email - which means the joke is on me since all you have to do is walk into an apple store and bingo you have a new ipod, versus the 500 bucks i had to pay for it last year!

no, jahn's practical joke continues..i called and they said no dice...got email in error? anyways i am at work and didnt feel like fighting...plus as i mentioned i am not familiar with apple products and have been plugging away with my creative mp3 so i want to sell the ipod.
