Heh, I ordered mine from headroom for $1 more. That was over a month ago lol..

i've bought a lot of stuff from B&H, and the transactions have always been perfect. if my money wasn't bogged down in other purchases, i would definitely order a pair of 701s, month wait or not.

anyone know how reliable B&H is as a retailer?
Wow, how come they're so much cheaper at B&H? And I thought Todd listed them for $399... how did Ayreonaut get them for $309?

fyi... I have a little photo hobby, and like 99% of the people on the photo boards order from B&H and have no problems... it's the largest and most reliable out there.

Funny though....a while ago, something went wrong with their website and whenever people clicked their carts, somebody's order could be seen... i saw partial credit card info and full address and phone numbers of customers.... and lots of people claim to have seen full credit card numbers... created sort of a panic that caused quite a few to cancel credit cards... didnt help that the incident was posted on a forum where everyone started trying it out....

but the fact that it happened probably means that they will ensure it won't happen again. i don't mean to discourage customers from B&H... it was just really freaky how every time i (and the thousands of forum readers) refreshed the cart, someone else's personal info came up... didnt think a large retailer like B&H would let something like that happen

Do either Headroom or TTVJ still have their introductory pricing on the AKG 701? Also, what was the introductory pricing for either of these establishments? You may PM me if you don't want to quote on the forum.

Thanks,
Michael

I would imagine that B&H probably just bought their e-tailer software from some large company, and it sounds like it's a software error, so I doubt it was entirely B&H's fault. One of my closest friends ia a mid level manager for a very large e-commerce (among other things) company and he is pretty wary about buying stuff online.

Wow, I just realized that I can buy a 701 from B&H and it's still cheaper than trying to get a 225 from a retailer up here in Canada.

The 701 is better than the 225, right?

It's a bigger number so it must be better right?

I went for it. To me the order cost $288.85. Hope it comes in time.

Thanks for the info.

How people can talk about warranties and recabling on the same page, I have no clue .

Todd the Vinyl Junkie is a Head-Fi Sponsor...

Todd is a pretty big member of this site. Not that we owe allegiance or anything, but he is involved with this forum and has done some wonderful things in the past. Anyone remember the HF-1. I'd rather give him my business. Anyone interested in purchasing K701's might want to at least check what his price is by asking him. Let's just say I'd recommend it. Cheers.
