MONSTER - Reference PowerCenter™ HTS 1000 $49.99 Shipped

Thread Starter
Just a heads up for anyone looking for a cheap power conditioner.

Look here http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/mess...hreadid=556615

I have no idea if/how the conditioner will affect a/v quality. I try to stay away from overpriced items, but for $50 shipped I ordered two. The company (shopallmonster.com) is new, but they are an authorized dealer. The HTS1000 retails for $150. The next lowest price after $50 is around $80 from etronics and amazon. ($70 +shipping)

I have $1000's worth of a/v equipment. I also live in an old apartment, so maybe the wiring isn't too great and I'm getting noise as a result. I guess I'll know when I get it and test it out. I'm currently using apc surges that cost around $30.

The "audiophiles" on audioreview seem to think highly of the hts1000.

If anyone has used this product. Lets us know how it is. Some people say it's snake oil, some people praise it. I'm going to find out myself.

More stuff to think about

I guess DBT-free forum means debate free. Personal experiences are good for people thinking about getting one and/or are interested in learning more about conditioners. I'm in the latter category

That's the PC1000, not the HTS1000. Technically they're the same hardware, it's just a little dishonest to claim it's an HTS1000 since the retail on the two is different. PC1000's have been going for around $50 for quite a while now, and have long been considered one of the best values in power conditioning. The HTS1000 is silver colored and more 'flat' while the PC1000 is black and more trapezoid-al.

Many here have that unit (PC1000) i just ordered one myself, mine was 65 shipped though, that's a great price. MarkL claims his PB1100 has no negative effects on sound quality, and it uses the same circuit. So it's a good product. DBT Free means.. Double Blind Test free. In other words we don't want a bunch of people coming in here and says "Can you double blind test it" over and over to every thread.

No, this deal is for the HTS1000. It's the MKI. I have this product in my family's home theater setup. It looks exactly the same as the PC1000 only with home theatre labeled sockets instead of PC component labels.

The beige colored one is the HTS1000 MKII.

Great find! I've just ordered one and with tax its was $53-something. The best part is that the order will be processed immediately and delivered within 2 business days! Are you kidding me? Free shipping, and they will get it there in 2 days? Wow!

I've recently set up a good friend with a 5.1 "loaner" system, and he's using an el-cheapo power strip that gives my gear zero protection, so this will give me peace of mind! It all started when he bought a new big screen TV and asked me what kind of audio setup he should go with. The next thing you know, I dusted out my closet and was able to set him up with a complete system from stuff I'm not using at the moment.

Martin Logan Aerius for fronts, Silverline Audio (ribbon speaker) center, Mission 77DS dipole surrounds, Velodyne HGS15 sub, B&K AVR 307 receiver, Sony 9000ES as source, Virtual Dymanics Power 3 power cords, Straight Wire Rhasphody interconnects, Monster Cable M2.4 speaker cables (very nice with the Martin Logans), Kimber Kable 8TC speaker cables for the center and surrounds.

Yeah, I guess my post was off topic too, but thanks.

The B&K receiver is a top piece of gear, and it just got decommissioned by the Denon 5805. Likewise, the Sony 9000ES has been replaced by the Denon 5910. He actually is using the rack that they were on as well, an Atlantis Reference 5 shelf rack, so even with his X-Box 360, he has room to expand. He's a really cool guy who set me up with an excellent business opportunity a couple of years ago, so I now owe him beers for life!

Below is the thread I started many moons ago on the Monster Power PC1000....

http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...ghlight=pc1000

It has some useful information, including my e-mail conversion with a Monster rep on the differences between the HTS1000 and the PC1000, and which component should be plugged into which outlet.

I read the thread soundboy posted but couldn't tell whether the device adveresely affects sonics. I am currently using a wiremold power strip with no surge protection; although I have no problems with it, I would welcome some surge protection as long as it does not make my rig sound worse.

So, does the HTS/PC1000 have negative impact on the sound?

I've never really liked that PC1000. I soon after purchased the PB1100, which I like better, and have used in my audio system instead (the PC1000 has my television gear plugged into it, atm). I just ordered a Monster Reference PowerCenter HTS 3500 MKII at a really good price, that should be here in a few days.

When it gets here, I'll probably move the PB1100 over to the tele setup, and the PC1000 to my computer.

I haven't had any problems with my PC1000 at all. Is the PB1100 that much better? I have to admit that my PC1000 is starting to have all its sockets filled up, maybe I'll give that PB1100 a looksee...

Edit - hmm cheapest i could find the PB1100 for was 72 bucks shipped. If I spent that much on power conditioning right now my wife would kill me. Oh well, back to the PC1000!

Could have sworn the MKI was still silver colored like the MKII - maybe there's multiple variants of the MKI? In any case PC/HTS1000 is all the same thing on the inside and for $50 it's a great price I have the MKII for my home theater and have no complaints, and I can't tell a difference in dynamics with my SR7200 plugged into the wall or the conditioner so I imagine it's not choking the power at all.

Power products are one area where I think Monster excels. They make good stuff. Cables are overpriced, but their power gear is pretty solid and has a good rep and the various A/V boards I've visited.

I have both the HTS1000/PC1000 and the PB1100 in my home right now. I could compare/contrast the sound of my DAC through both of them, but it would probably be a waste of time. I think power conditioning is the most "YMMV" aspect in all of audio.

Regardless whether this power strip will improve your setup or not, $49.99 is not a bad way to find out.

Good find. And you rarely find the best price from an authorized dealer.

damn i just bought pc1000 for 65 shipped. Wish I had looked around a bit more. That's 1100 is a steal.. but both PC1000 and 1100 use Cleanstage 2 version 2.0 so I don't see how there would be any sonic differnce.

edit: actually PC1000 is just regular Cleanstage 2, not 2.0.
