New Speakers

A came across someone upgrading from these Meridian DSP 5200s to the DSP 8000 and could not pass up the opportunity to give them a try.

The speakers have 75 wpc amplifiers connected to each speaker driver (225 wpc in each speaker) as well as a DSP processor and an onboard DAC to minimize any jitter. The G08 connects directly into them with the same remote controlling both. I just started to let them break in as they had very few hours on them.

Nice system...how do they sound (comparison)? I've always held my distance from speakers manufactured by companies known for their electronics...silly really, but I'm that type of guy (sad as it may be). What type of characteristic sound signiture do they eminate (B&W, Spendor, Audio Physic)?

Can you bi-amp them...internal amp for large drivers and external amp for midrange or tweeter?

In any regard, I'm enviouse!

Each driver has a dedicated amp for it. Also associated with this is the elimination of the traditional crossover in favor of a digital crossover. This reduces the amplification needed for the same volume by 6-9 db.

At this point, I don't have a good impression as they just came in late on the 13th.
