If you don't mind me asking, how much were they?

Manufaktur is not cheap but since they had a sale I decided to splurge.  It was $450 for my DT990.  Depending on the customization it can go even higher i.e. with carbon fiber, real leather head band, etc.

My DT990 600ohm Manufaktur are all black (if I had to pick colours it would have been black with red trim):

Nice pic!  I like the cable.  Why didn't you get to pick the color?  Did you buy them 2nd hand or they didn't offer the colors when you got 'em?

Got them 3rd hand in a trade smily_headphones1.gif

I just bought my DT990 Pro's I will be running them from Xonar DX to my Yamaha HTR-6130 receiver through the headphone output. Can't wait!

Make sure you burn them in for a while. I remember when I first got mine (ages ago) that I almost returned them but thankfully decided to wait a few weeks to see how they would sound after some time.

They sounded better after time??

It takes like 40 hours of playing time to fully break in the drivers. The improvement should be significant. After that you might get slight improvements over time, but not as much.

Hm I will have to see if I am one to believe all the habba about Breaking in. I will pay close attention and run some breakin music for 40 hours

I can confirm that burn in does seem to improve them, or perhaps it's just your ears getting used to the sound.

I will do a review when I first get them. Then I will do a review after 24 hours of constant music. Then 48 hours of music. I will tell the sound quality and difference. Then bust this theory after all.

That's funny because I am liking the DT990 Pros more than when I first got them, which normally happens for me the other way round so maybe they do significantly improve with burn in.

I have had my pair for a while and probably played a few hundred hours music with them and in the beginning I did find the headphone to be somewhat fatiguing, for whatever reason that is no longer the case... If the headphone sound better? I probably can't tell any difference, but I do think that I have gotten used to the sound which the headphones produce smily_headphones1.gif.

Definitely improves with a little bit of time, mine from new sounded rough. But within a few hours they settled down brilliantly and became much clearer and tighter in general and the cloud was gone.

I loved my pros right out of the box, driven by the internal HP amp in an Oppo 105. I did break them in over the course of a few weeks; I mean, why not? Can't say that I noticed much of a change. K702, OTOH... wink.gif
