S-Video IC

Well the title says it, I'm looking into a decent V-Video IC for my TV, I was trying to upgrade to a component input TV instead, but the prices of the modern TVs, made me go away for now, and I decided to get a decent S-Video for my oldie Samsung instead, which picture is still superb...

I'm using a crappy RCA brand S-Video, any idea of a good one, I need about 6'. Also I can do it, but I do not have the cable to do it, not an idea on where to get it....Any suggestion will be really appreciated....

Either go for a Radio Shack Gold Series or Blue Jeans Cable S-Video cable: http://www.radioshack.com or http://www.bluejeanscable.com .

have you tried the usual places like markertek, digikey, newark, mouse, west lake, avcable and so on

Blue jeans might have some too.

I was looking into building some S-Video cables for my tv a while back, but then replaced my display and had heartland cables make me some component cables instead.

I have the Blue Jeans in a rather long length. It seems to be quite good.

I highly recommend Blue Jeans. Their S-Video cable produced a very pronounced and visible picture improvement over the Monster cable I was using.

sorry I do not have bulk s video cable unforunately.

Id recommend you hit up blue jeans. Markertek should have bulk cable, if you want to DIY it.

i DIY'd an s-video using technec s-video cable and the same "custom made" s-video connectors that bluejeans uses. cable is about 50c/foot from markertek, though the core is stranded rather than solid like the bluejeans custom belden.

btw: those mini-dins are a pain in the ass to solder, the pins are really small, make sure you have two seperate helping hands to really make a good connection before you have to apply any heat

EDIT: its actually partsexpress that sell the connector bluejeans uses

An update, I recevied today two of the Blue Jeans cables, one S-video and one Component, for my TV, Holy Cow those cables are insane, for that price I was expecting a lot inferior product, the quality and manufacture is top notch, no fancy packaging, but the cable is top notch, the picture is crystal crisp clear, not sure if I will keep both as now I need just one, but they are simply insane......
