1. Have you ever heard of the company Musical Fidelity ?
2. IF so, how is their hifi cd player?
3. What 2 speakers for under 1000 dollars would work best
would I need anything else other than the cd player and speakers?

Thanks
p.s. sorry for so many questions in one post

I like the Musical Fidelity CDPs I have heard alot. What model are you thinking about?
You will need either a preamp/amp combo, an integrated amp, or a reciever to go with (between) your CDP and speakers.
As far as speakers go there are hundreds of good bookshelf, and smallfloorstanders in the $1K range that are good.

I haven't heard their CD players, but the little Musical Fidelity X-150 amp I use sounds great to me.

If you are very patient, you might be able to get some used Totem Acoustic Model 1 Signature speakers for around $1K. They are the best bookshelf speakers (and fairly small bookshelf speakers, at that) I've ever heard.

For $300 (new) nothing I've heard compares to Epos ELS-3, though you would probably need to consider adding some type of subwoofer.
