The Musical Fidelity X-Ray is an exceptional 24-bit CD player that offers sophisticated post D-to-A filtering to remove digital aliasing and breakthrough artifacts present in other designs. The X-Ray uses a 24 bit Burr-Brown DACs, interpolating the CD disc's original 16 bits to 24 bits, prior to conversion, for performance near the theoretical limit for 16 bit. This results in tremendous detail retrieval and resolution to give lifelike reproduction. The X-Ray uses data and clock re-timing circuitry, along with a stable master crystal oscillator, to achieve excellent jitter performance. This improves sound quality while also providing consistent performance from disc to disc. Very low jitter digital outputs makes this a great transport as well with an external DAC.

The X-Ray is very well built, with a striking ¼” milled aluminum faceplate and substantial resonant resistant enclosure, which make for a minimal/functional aesthetic. This unit has the unique and more sought after oval shape with the rounded sides.
