Problem solved. I systematically checked EVERYTHING. The problem was exactly where I least expected. After fiddling with the computer all I could I started shaking wires. The last connection I checked was the headphone into the jack on my amp. turns out THAT was the problem! Apparently there is a poor connection between my headphones and my corda amp that was transmitting all that noise. I pushed the plug around in the socket and it all stopped. Now I have pristine silence between songs. Just thought I'd give the final update on this.
