I think I've decided on Blue Jeans's Belden 1505F with Canare RCA Plugs as an upgrade to my RatShack interconnects.

I was just wondering if anyone had photos of what they look like. Blue Jean's website only shows the Canare Plugs.

Thanks so very much!

The ones I have are just plain cables (one white, the other red). Nothing fancy (I didn't opt for the TechFlex), which suits me just fine.

Blue Jeans Cables are an excellent value and you would have to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars more to hear perceived sonic differences as compared to audiophile cables. My BJC Stereo RCA cables sound satisfying musically with no discoloration of the sound. I paid several thousands of dollars to add colorations to my reference system with custom power cords and a high end audiophile cable name brand -- Cardas Cables.

Yes, the mesh-like covering you see on many DIY cables is TechFlex. It's mainly for looks, and some people don't like it because it sometimes can cause microphonics problems. I did order it on one set of cables, but only to bundle three cables together (Audio and Video).

I found the Blue Jeans S-Video cable to give a clearly superior, sharper picture than my Monster S-Video cable (verified by my roommate who usually doesn't notice stuff like that). Most likely, it's due to better shielding, since I've got a ton of electronics stuff around my TV (computers, hard drives, DVD burner, ReplayTV, etc). BTW, I highly recommend their Component Video cables!

A friend and I will be doing a rather extensive comparison of audio/video cables in the near future. If things turn out the way I suspect, I'll be replacing the rest of my over-priced Monster cr@p with Blue Jeans cables... I can hear my wallet crying already

If they are anything like my Blue Jeans Belden component video cables, they are just plain smooth black plastic.

I haven't had other components cables with which to compare them, but I am very happy with the construction and performance of the ones that I ordered from Blue Jeans. I will be ordering from them again for sure.

The 3 individual cables (blue, red, green) are wrapped into 1 big, round black cable, about 1" in diameter.

The simple answer is not everyone's televisions/DVD players feature DVI or HDMI input/output. Another reason is that some DVD players' digital outputs are poorly implemented and their analog component outputs actually looks superior. Or perhaps he prefers the beautiful color combination of red, blue and green with his cables!

I have this same cable but unfortunately my digital camera died. It used to be connected to my DVD player along with a Bluejeans component cable for the video. Recently I shipped the UR cable out of my headphone rig back to Grover for an upgrade and was suffering with an old Monster cable when I realized that I had the Belden. I yanked it off my DVD player and was very pleasantly surprised by the sound in my rig. To make a long story short, the Monster is now on the DVD player and the Bluejeans cable will be staying in my music rig until the new Grovers arrive.

Actually - this isn't necessarily true since you're comparing analog to digital. While DVI is nice for a single cable solution, and can deal with the 1080p resolutions of today's gear, it can be rather finicky at longer lengths  - the original thoughts when DVI was created were "15 feet should be long enough for anyone..." - a classic case of "design by committee" short sighted-ness. Most on the consortium were from the PC monitor realm and not the home theater world...

Component video is much more reliable, especially over distance. Also - even though it is restricted to 1080i by most consumer gear, it is capable of much higher resolutions over greater distances than DVI or HDMI. As far as the picture quality is concerned, that has more to do with the monitor you're viewing than the cabling.

I have a 1505F. Great choice for good entry level solid state gears.
