probably many of you guys already have the album, I just got it and must say that I really like it. It's easy on the ear, sounds great with my senn's.

Yeah, I love it. Apparently the US release got delayed until next year for some reason so probably not as many people have heard it as you might think. It was briefly available at some of the indie stores here in the US a little while after it was released in the UK, but never made it to prime time. Anyone know what happened? I got my copy from a friend in the UK about the time of release and a few of us posted some nice comments. I was kind of disappointed in the sound myself, but the sound of compression that plagues so many CDs (like this one) is highly subjective and many prefer it to a more dynamic sound. But you're right in that it sounds good inspite of that to me too

Still like the debut more, and this year I also have more love for the similar sounding British Sea Power Open Season, which plays to more of my favorite influences than Elbow, such as Echo & The Bunnymen and Bowie and Pere Ubu and Joy Division, but both great listens! The BSP is just a bit more quirky, which always works for me

Leaders of the Free World is a very good CD (listening to it right now!).

If you haven't already got them, then do yourself a favour and get their two olders Cds, Asleep in the Back & Cast of Thousands. Both are excellent.

Cheers,

Pete.

Cast of Thousands is phenomenal. It's by far my favorite of their stuff.

Love this band. But for me, they still haven't topped Asleep in the Back. Stone-cold masterpiece, though Cast Of Thousands is not far behind. Still getting used to Leaders of The Free World. This is one of those bands that takes repeated listens of their CDs to fully digest.

I also ordered every one of their UK CD singles and made my own CD of their best B-sides. Even their cast-offs are awesome.
