Well, I've decided to make a x-mas wishlist for music, however, I'm finding it hard to get any more than a few CD's on my list (due to the lack of imagination). I know there have been countless "top 5 albums" threads, and I was not hoping for this to become one. I'd like it very much if you recommended some music based on the information I'll give.
If you wish you can also add you personal wishlist for x-mas.
First of all, I've recently started listning to Opeth (all because of this forum). I liked the new CD, Ghost reveries a lot. Next day I ordered My Arms Your Hearse and Still life. I didnt like MAYH as much as i liked still life, I guess that MAYH is too heavy for my taste at the moment. I also like bands like Nightwish, and perhaps the melodical sound is more to my taste than the heavy-rockis sound.
Is there any other CD by opeth which is more like Ghost reveries than MAYH (like Still life)?
I also recently bought Infected mushroom - The Gathering, which I think is excellent. I really like the heavy 'metallic' sound of the midbass (I perfer that over boomy and soft).
Which other good Infected mushroom CD's are there?
I would also like to 'get in' to classical music. Any decent classical music which every singe Head-Fi'ist should have? (good recording aswell, if possible)
I might also add that I really like Tool Lateralus (probably my fav CD), and I liked it significantly more than I like Aenima.
Do you have any good recommendations based on this?
I'll also add my personal contribution to the wishlist which includes CD's everyone should have, IMO.
DJ shadow - In Tune and on Time
Radiohead - OK Computer
Radiohead - Kid A
Nine inch nails - The fragile
Nine inch nails - The downward spiral
Nightwish - Once
Nightwish - Wishmaster
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Shpongle - Are you shpongled?
Bjork - Homogenic
Tool - Lateralus
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Opeth - Still Life
Thanks,
Ttvetjanu
