EMINEM : Curtain Call

Mr Mathers tends to be an intensely polarizing person so this news is good for both sides.

His last official Solo album; a collection of his hits plus 3 new tracks.

If you dont like him you can rejoice in the fact that hes stepping out of the booth.

If you do, then theres some new music and chances are that you didnt like Encore and are glad to see him stop with the crap.

Discuss, but be nice.

His song, "When I'm gone" is one of his best efforts since The Marshal Mathers LP.

It's too bad he couldn't make more songs like this before he leaves the game.

At least casual rap listeners like myself won't have to listen to another album of him talking about how "he's back" (somehow he makes it like he is rising from the dead to make another album on each album he makes) and how he doesn't care about what others think of him. And we can be spared of future lame attempts to put a political message in his music (Mosh). I am a fan of his first two albums, but it seems he just keeps on using the same gimmicks that worked in his first albums on his newer stuff.

Edit: Don't mistake this for a complete Eminem-hater post, I do find a few of his newer songs to be very good.

Exactly.

Encore was his worst cd so far, best being the second first (marshall matters LP).

In the A/V section of www.eminem.com, there are now audio streams of the When I'm Gone (clean) and Stan ft. Elton John (live at the Grammys). When I'm Gone is quickly becoming one of my favorite Eminem songs: although it is not his best effort by a long shot in terms of rhymes or technical delivery (nor was Stan for that matter), it seems to put his life into perspective.

As for this being the last Eminem solo album, if that holds up for the next 10 years I might start to believe it. He is clearly burnt out from being one of the world's most famous musicians. However, he has too much responsibility and too many artists relying on him to just disappear. So he's going to be in the spotlight anyways, and sooner or later I expect he will have something to say again.

Very sad, i'll definetly be rushing to buy it.

Eminem got me into rap, and although its not my favourite genre, it definetly diversified my tastes.

Encore didn't do him justice, it was weak in the ways TES was strong.

I wish he'd put out a album bringing him back to Marshal Mather and The eminem Show days, but it seems that this may have to be out last word from him.

But if Encore was going to be his new standard, than it may be good he's calling it quits.

Hes gone? Really?

WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Life's too short to be concerned about what artists you don't care for are doing or not doing. Whether or not Backstreet Boys put out an album, I could care less. The final eminem disc I'll get, because he does some interesting things. Better than some, worse than others, but enjoyable enough.

thats exactly it, The Eminem Show put Mr Shady at a point where if he pushed himself hard ( arguable what he did for the songs of the 8 mile Soundtrack ) he would have truly proved his talent and worth, instead he flew under the lofty bar he raised

When Im Gone is simply a rehash of several songs from Encore ( namely, evil deeds, mockingbird, crazy in love, maybe a few others )
