Need help organizing my growing record collection - Page 2

VINYL is practically unknown but still another excellent "record collector" themed movie. I bought my copy from Alan Zwieg himself after reaching him on his website ..... and wound up dropping off the money and picking up the VHS tape from his home mailbox. Definitely worth seeing if you ever come across it.

I have somewhere close to 3000+ LPs, and I just shelve them alphabetically. Works fine for me.

Someone had to say it.

And yes, it's fantastic.

That movie chronicles our sickness in very good detail but I have a tough time watching it for some reason.

Zweig does tend to include some extreme cases for effect. Hopefully, we're not all that far gone. I remember seeing at least two and possible 3 of the "collectors" he features in the movie, making the rounds at all the stereo shows years ago.

Hope you're feeling better Fred. Have you had a chance to look into my camera situation? It's been quite a while.

I just saw this on Veoh (through a Google Video search) I believe. I thought he was a little boring to listen to and essentially it was about him dropping his depression more than anything else. The "one's in it for the music" were just ignored.

Anyway, I've made an app to catalog my collection (www.leifertin.info/app/MyVinyl). It only works with Mac but I work and improve on it obsessively. Almost like the interviewees in "Vinyl".

I just downloaded your program and am going to give it a try.  I love that you can export a list to your iPhone - it will make it so much easier to keep from buying duplicates.

I hope others will see this thread since I think a lot of people here would find your software useful.  If this thread dies off, you should create a new thread so more people will see it.

Thank you for posting here and I hope to see you around the boards!

Thanks for your interest!

The iPhone export is currently limited to either your entire collection or entire wantlist. I'm working on implementing something like playlists for both the "Have" and "Want" tabs. This will be a great improvement for DJs as well as the iPhone export. Then you'll be able to export only what you want.
