I didn't get to listen to the M^3 unfortnately. I'm sure that is an excellent amp as well. How are you enjoying yours?

The HeadRoom Millet looked very nice and it had the full HR treatment. Surprisingly it was just the Desktop Module inside (which I'm sure is much better than the stages built for the DIY units). Tyll actually told me that my Coda with the Desktop should be very comparable. But I didn't do a head to head and just took his word for it, though when the Millet was in my system it sounded similar.

Since you are a David Matthews fan, you are probably familiar with the Say Goodbye track on Crash. I use that to test out the bass region dynamicism, resolution, and transient response. It was amazing with the Meridian 588 and that Millet. Really impactful, fast, and detailed. I mean detail in the bass!

I had never heard the intro to that track produced that way in a headphone system. I got my Benchmark DAC1 last night and played that track via AAC to APX and my Coda, while it was more detailed, this setup still wasn't what I remembered with that Millet/588 combo. Maybe when I get my EMP back from lan this weekend I can see if the DAC1/EMP will get me there.

I actually like my M^3 more than the Hornet with the HD600...I even get slightly fatigued with the Hornet/HD600 - not so with the M^3...hehe I told you I like it SMOOTH and LUSH!! That's why I know I will go into tubes next, so I was wondering if the Millett might be a good fit.

I remember your telling me about the "Say Goodbye" song and I agree, it is a great song and test track! And if you like that one for testing, try "Kit Kat Jam" on Dave Matthew Band's Busted Stuff album -- talk about 3 minutes of non-step complex craziness!
