Some players takes a long time for break in. My readings of audioasylum supports this.

I also agree with Driftwood. If it breaks during breakin, it means it's a low quality product.

andrzejpw, think about how long you run your player every day anyway -- I frequently have my SL-CT570 going for around seven hours or more at work every day. And that's a PCDP. I'm sure your Denon could handle a couple hundred hours straight, but you'll probably get about the same results through normal use, just in a bit more time. If you're really worried about continual spining, it's not that difficult to let it cool down every ten hours or so.
