I have the 770-80's, they had waaaaay too much bass for me, they weren't ballanced at all. I sold them and kept my A900s, which after trying a large number of closed cans I settled on and am happy with.

I can tell you as a fellow competetive counterstrike player that I prefer my Sennheiser HD-580's over any headset. I bought an icemat siberia and I only use the clipon mic.

EAX is crucial for game sounds, personally I would wait for the emu card with the xfi stuff it is suposed to do games well and music.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses, but i would like to know if the a900 are worth 100$ more than the a500. Because someone said the 500 were 90% of the 900, if that's true, i will go with the 500 and a good sound card because 100$ is pretty big for my little wallet!

Go for the a500's, if you are dissapointed you wont make a very big loss compares to the a900's.

P.S. To really learn to like good heaphones might take some time, not everyone have noticed a big difference when buying new heaphones, but after time they have and have been happy for their purchase.

Hey there,

I thought I was the only one that used higher end head phones for PC gaming...

Currently I'm using a Total BitHead and a set of HD650's for playing. I started off with 595's and they were great for gaming as well.

Mostly I play BF2, but everyonce and a while I revert to DC (I really miss the little birds)

It's amazing how much extra I can hear in the game. Lots of background noise, and sometimes even foot steps coming up behind me... saved my a death on more than one occasion.

The only down side for this setup is that since there's no MIC input on the TBH, if I wanted to use comms in BF2, it wouldn't work as it only wants to use one sound device.

But with TeamSpeak, I can control the where the sound goes and where the input comes from, so I output to my TBH and use the MIC input off of the onboard sound. I just use my old LogiTech headset, turned upside down around my neck with the mic twisted up as high as it goes... one day I've got to get a different mic.

I'm in Canada as well, and the good folks over at HeadRoom shipped to Canada, and I picked up my 650's off eBay.

yeah the 595's are great for gaming. in Battlefield Vietnam some parts of some levels are very thick with bushes, and that's where i slaughter many a foe just by listening to their footsteps

I will definately pick up the a500 this week.
I did not think about the mic issue tough, that will give me a reason to upgrade my sound card, i tought i would continue to use my usb sennheiser for mic(mic input on the sound card is F******) but it wont work for ingame sound in counter-strike. Well i may as well buy a good sound card with the 100$ i saved by going a500.
Now i understand why you were telling me : sorry for you're wallet. lol

At least, i will have high-quality sound to enjoy

BTW, if i go with the creative x-fi, is there a base version or only fancy version with all kinds of input? Which one do recommend(platinum, extrememusic, fatality)?
yes the platium and fatality has all kinds of output with teh extra front panel... but if ur gonna go all out, might as well get the fatality... xram lol.

Well, if there is nothing added soundwise by the fatality(or whatever the name), i won't pay 350$ for it only for a couple of inputs i'll never use. I want to know if there is a basic one, with only a sound card, and if it's as good as the other ones. I dont want to pay 350$ for inputs and because they wrote fatality on the thing :S
If i get extra sound features tough, thats another story!
