How to be an audiophile

I thought this was a rather amusing Amazon list put together by a self-proclaimed audiophile, if only for the headphone recommendations at the bottom: Stereo Appreciation

Serial number 18 makes me scratch my chin and wonder a little......

I thought it'd be a guide on the best thesaurus' around.....

Reading the 'phone reviews here, I think some head-fi-ers may be english professors!

You don't need to buy crap (I mean that in the literal sense) to be an audiophile.

Here's how ya do it:

1) Listen to music.

2) Enjoy it.

Boom! You'r an audiophile!

Naah, that would be a music-phile.

I agree that 'audiophilia' isn't the same thing as gear mania, but it does take quality gear to get good sound. A person who buys an iPod and listens with the default earbuds is not an audiophile, in my opinion. A person who buys an iPod and searches long and hard for the right portable headphone *is* an audiophile. It doesn't take $$thousands$$, what it takes is an interest in and caring about good sound quality.

Would you guys mind keeping your idiotic wars in the cables/speakers/etc forum instead of crapping in the other sections? Pretty please? The fact that you put the words "flamebait" in your post shows you're intentionally trying to start another meaningless argument.
