High End American HiFi brands

Thread Starter
Being British I'm used to listening and checking out a plethora of High End hifi brands e.g. Linn. I'm thinking about trying out something a little different and maybe going with an American brand for a change. The thing is, here the British magazines and websites only push our own stuff. So I ask, whats a good high end American hifi brand for me to check out. I'm specifically looking for CD players, Pre amps, Power amps and Monoblocks.

Wadia
McIntosh

The above two are held in very high regards. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of any others at the moment.

I have the MK2 version of the Atma-sphere amp described in the link below. It has a couple of manufacturer upgrades and it has been all that I could ask for. For a preamp I would recommend the Ray Samuels Stealth. I have had it in my setup for sometime and it has given me many hours of pleasure.

Other manufacturers that I have listened extensively too and can recommend are Cary and the Theta Dreadnaught.

For CD Players I like Meridian and some of the Wadia pieces. But I guess you know of Meridian. I also like the Ayre CD player.
