Classifying cables by flavor...

Of course, audio interconnects are much more than tone-controls. But since millions of listeners use interconnect cables as tone-controls everyday, I'd almost like see IC cables classified by "tone" as well as by construction, design, etc... Many of the truly experienced lunatics amongst us would say something like, "Certain IC's roll off the highs, some accentuate the midrange, while others seem to affect bass reproduction primarily...". OK.., which brands and/or types of audio interconnects roll the highs? Which ones fatten the mids? Which boost the lows?

Not only that but they also seem to be very system-dependant by and large.

I'd imagine that one of the best ways to get a clear impression of what suits your rig best would be to compare a stack of different IC's at one of the various head-fi meets.
