Volex 14AWG Power Cords!

I just replaced all the power cords with these volex cords, bought from mouser.com for a bit over $12 each.

I didn't believe in this kind of thing, until now. On the headphone side of things, I can't honestly say I can detect any difference, but they have completely changed the sound of my powered monitors. They have suddenly developed bass, soundstage and dynamics I had no idea they had in them. The difference is NOT subtle, and is well beyond placebo, especially considering I was expecting absolutely nothing.

I guess that the higher the wattage of the appliance in question, the more effect the quality or lack of quality of the cable has on the sound. Anyway, I can't recommend these too highly, and at that price you can finally throw away all of the horrible 18awg cords that came with your electronics.

Just search mouser for "Volex 14AWG" or look on pages 775 and 776 of their catalog and pick the one you want. I've been using some of these for a while now and they are nice, really cheap chords. If I had to guess about which one the previous poster is talking about it would be this one which is also the chord that I have been using.

HTH,

Nate

Forgot to mention that I also got hold of a PS Audio Statement cable in a trade. That thing is HUGE! 6AWG, plus surrounding higher AWG stranding...

Which version did you get? The newest has a round (as opposed to oval) shape and a removable ground pin. I love what these cords have done for my system.
