It is so true....Why not just keep the unit on all the time, it's battery will just keep being charged if you plug it in every few days for a few hours. It just seems to keep on getting wider and deeper all the time.

While burning in headphones (RS-1 and HD600) the AE-1 stayed on for 6 consecutive days on one charge, amazing! The sound is so smooth and detailed, I love it.

I love reading about good amps. The portable amplification quality and offerings have really taken a nice leap forward. I enjoy my Xin products but if I were back in the States I think I would indulge myself in a fine AE-1, just for the variety. I have always found that for dielectrics, caps and all electrical, break-in time was essential and that a couple of hundred hours requisite.

Nice...An AE-1 amp love thread...Count me in,too.
Mine has or is into about 250+ hours of use,and I'm extremely pleased with the sound and the performance. And yes,I agree, the battery capacity is outstanding.
My AE spent the first 97% of it's first full charge (90% of it's second) driving my Sennheiser 590's maxed out through a DAP source. Another 30+ hours of lighter duty through Shure E5's.
Justin at Headamp will shortly get another order for an AE-1 configured as he tweaked mine -for a friend who has heard it through a Zen Micro>Cardas mini-mini>AE-1>Shure E5's. An excellent synergy among the listed components.
And yes,I agree that burn-in can certainly help with some electronics. I've built and tweaked a couple of high-end water cooled PC's,and can index a couple of rather dry white papers regarding electron migration, leakage, and bedding,ad-nauseum....Anyway,there (computer CPU and GPU,etc.),and here,it does seem to work.
I'm likin' my AE-1 alot....Kudu's to Headamp,and to Justin Wilson on AE-1 #037.

I agree. I'd just keep it on and playing music through a cheap disposable pair of phones and run it 24/7 at high volume. I tried this with a regular 9v battery powered amp and it got expensive really quickly, not to mention needing to check it every few hours to make sure it had enough power to keep running.

I also love my AE-1. I pair it with an iPod and Shure E4s and just absolutely love the sound. Diggin' to Queens of the Stoneage!
