Pocket Amp 2 vs. other $50 amps/CMOYs?

Hi, I have a Chaintech AV-710 and some Alessandro MS-1s. I'm looking for either an amp or CMOY for around $50 to improve the sound quality. Portability of the amp/CMOY means nothing to me. It's just going to sit on my computer case.

Would the Pocket Amp 2 be able to do this for me? Are there other options out there that would beat the Pocket Amp 2 in sound quality for roughly $50?

This may seem like a basic question, but I'm new to this stuff and am looking to get the best bang for the buck.

You will not go wrong with the PAV2. At $60 delivered and includes a charger and 6" interconnect. You do not have to remove the rechargable batteries to charge them and they last a long time (over 60 hours).

PA2V2 is better bang for the buck against the other cmoys. Plus, Gary is a nice guy to deal with and will always answer any questions you have.

They pretty much said it, get a PA2V2!

Go with the PAV2, great little amp. Gary is also great and responded to an email 25 minutes after I sent it with a lot more information then I had expected.

I haven't personally bought or heard the PA2V2 but I did ask Gary a couple of question and have to say he is one of the nicest most helpful builders I have ever talked to so that along with the good reviews, price, features and warranty that is offered by him I would go with the PA2V2.

Thanks guys. I'm ordering a PA2V2 right now for $60!

I bet you'll like it.

I think the amp I'm using with my HD595 (see my sig) is better. Just a thought, as I know almost nothing about the PAV2 except that it uses a LM4881.

I like my govibeII better than the PA2V2 for my MS2 and HF1. IMHO the PA2V2 soundstage is more compressed and bass is a bit bloated. Works well with some cans while others its not as enjoyable.

I like the PA2V2 with my KSC75. The forward bass and compressed image of the PA2 counteracts the sloppy KSC75 nicely and makes for a nice tight refined sound. Very portable too IMHO.

I have UM2s on the way and I hear these earphones hiss easily, so that's good to hear.

Grado? Soundstage? Really? My sr225 has no more soundstage than Koss KSC35 earphones. I think you're referring to the treble.

Really ... thats one of the many differences between the SR225/KSC and HF1/MS2. The latter 2 certainly DO have some soundstage, a tad more than the SR225 IMHO of course. The PA2V2 pulls HF1/MS2 soundstage more "into the head" than with the govibe. Its a subtle difference... but noticeable IMHO.

thats all I' going to say

**edit**

Yes I agree the govibe has a little more treble sparkle and air, and that certainly does help.

What would be better for some MS-1s? The GoVibeII or PA2V2? Also, how much does the GoVibeII cost?
