I REALLY do like the sound now.  I was surprised it made such a difference.

Yep, that would seem like the correct solution to my issue.

My Porta's seem to have a buzz going on in the left can. I am thinking about trying to get themreplaced under the lifetime guarantee.

Have you tried removing the foam pads and cleaning anything that might be touching the drivers first? I had a similar problem and cleaning them worked for me.

This. You probably have a hair sticking in the front grille, or maybe in one of hte small holes in the back of the driver... I've had that happen before. Give them a good look

I currently own two pair.  One is just a backup in case I need to send the first back for a replacement.

They have such an amazing, airy realness that I have found lacking in much more expensive equipment.  They will still surprise me occasionally while I'm listening to something.  I'll be thinking "Damn!  What's on my head again?"

Maybe the most satisfied I've ever been with a purchase.

And here I thought they sound amazing out of the box. Now that I just did the quarter mod, I can't believe they could be amazing-er! Impressed is an understatement to describe me right now!

Hi, does anyone know if the Sportapro has the same drivers as the Portapro?  I thought they did but are they the exact same size too?  I ask because I have the KSC75 and did the headband mod with the Parts Express headband and may want to do the same with the Sportapro drivers.  The KSC75 was simple to snap off the clips and snap into the headband but I was not sure if that could be done with the Sportapro drivers too if I don't like the headband it comes with.  And do the Sportapro's sound and fit very similarly to the Portapro's or are there large differences between them?

Also, I was thinking of getting the yellow Senn 414 pads for the KSC75 I have but are those very easy to swap on and off with the pads the KSC75 comes with?

Thanks.

IDK much about the sportapro, so take what I'm about to say with a lot of salt, but from my reading around, they are the same as the PortaPro, as far as I can tell.

Regarding the pads though, its easy to swap, the only thing you have to be careful with is to not rip it apart on the "teeth" that holds the foam onto the housing. Just pinch and raise the edge of it carefully and pull it off. Its hard to describe it in words, but when you try it, you'll know, hopefully.

Well I just have to necro this thread back up. So after I got HD414 and did teh quarter mods and reverse mount it, I found that it lost too much bass, mids a little bit shouty in a bad way and the highs are a little too piercing. Intrigued by this so called "bass lens" from the MDR-F1, I tried fashion a crude one from a felt vase base liner. And what do you know, bass do come back. Of course I need more time and refinement to come to a better conclusion but this is an interesting find if I say so myself. Oh this post inspired me.

Oh and everything on the portapro itself is still unmodded.

Well my impressions of the PortaPro with bass lens is in here.
