Can a T-amp be modded in this way?...

Can a T-amp be modded to drive headphones? I know they'll drive a K1000... But how about other cans?

Curious..

Don't see why it couldn't, it's all just power.

with the right adapter cable, yes. bozebuttons grabbed joe grado's own poweramp to headphone adapter cable on audiogon, man i gotta hear that someday! but you can ask someone to make you something similar, or find one somewhere. make certain it's not just speaker posts to a 1/4 plug hehe - you need to have some serious resistance tweaking and stuff in there!

Well, you can make the speaker out to headphone adapter pretty easy, true.

But in order to use Sonic Impact with regular headphones, you also have to mod your headphone cable to separate the L ground from R ground, which are usually soldered to the same ground pin on 1/4" male plug. SI cannot have its L and R ground combined.

In addition to using SI to power my K1000 (L and R ground already separate), I also ran my AKG K340 with SI, but only after modding K340 cable into 4-pin XLR to separate the 2 grounds.

Above 2 didn't need any resistors in series b/c they were insensitive, but for "normal" headphones, I recommend using a power resister in series in order not to blow up your headphones accidentally.

How does the SI perform as a headphone Amp?
