This thread is from before I got here, so I started at the beginning and instantly said, "Wait, don't they know?!?"

If anyone's up for another great Eno disc, though, I'm really down with African-derived ambient stuff on his collaboration with Jon Hassell: Fourth World, Vol. 1: Possible Musics.

Hah! You want whack?

Chris Spedding generally does tiny little solos, but he once stretched out and demonstrated. The last bit of "The Game" on Roy Harper's "HQ"

Big proggy epic with Bill Bruford, John Paul Jones and Dave Gilmour as the band.

They, for whatever reason, couldn't hack the the finale, so phoned Spedding, who turned up, dressed for a wedding (and in those days, I'm afraid it was a Tony Manero white suit - still, he has cool to spare...) with a tiny amp.

He had a bit of a listen, did THAT in one take and left. Start to finish in less than half an hour.

You really, really have to hear it before you die.

It's up there with              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnr5eCEoXro

Flying V power, groovy Brass backline and Aviator shades all round :) Even John Wetton in there for the King Crimson nod to almost drag it back on topic...

Ambient 4: On Land

That's what I think, anyway.
