DPS does not make that much of a difference. It adds some punch and impoves notes separation but definitely does not change sound signature of the amp.
All that it needs is a good burn-in (150 hours at least) and 20-30 min warm up time.

I'm not sure if this counts... but hearing it just now, (V1 gilmore lite), i think that it's not just a bit cold, but maybe too rough...on certain older trumpet recordings i ended up preferring the audiophile usb's integrated amp to the gilmore..... comming from the rather smooth, laidback meier sound this may just be a built in prejudice to change however.... well see.
