Can I order a leather one from TTVJ or Grado direct?

I want to replace the vinyl one that came with my HF1.

I have a FS/FT thread in the FS forum...

thanks,
Garrett

Yeah, we really need to find a source of these. Maybe John could produce some for us?

Do you think he would do that?... Its not like Im going to sell them on ebay or something like that. I just want something nicer than the $.50 piece of vinyl that came with my HF1... which IMHO looks/feels more like a $20 target/wal-mart special than a serious piece of audio gear.

people wrap beyer headband pads around the stock grado ones dont they?

this would probably be cheaper than buying a new grado leather headband and is supposed to be very comfy

unless you have a desire to keep it "all grado"

I agree 100%. I plan on keeping these for good, and the leather headband is not only more durable, but it just looks better. It's not everyday a huge headphone manufacturer makes a special edition headphone for a small portion of his market. Imagine Apple making a special edition for Ipod Lounge Maybe if there is enough interest, John would consider it?

edit: Hugz...you got it. I'm all about keeping the stock look. I'm not even sure I want to get them recabled, it's a decision I'm really thinking about.

Yeah the DT770 pad is the common fix... I would prefer to keep it all grado OEM though. The vinyl headband feels so cheap, and tends to slide off my hair when I lie down. The leather one seems to grip better.

If you do manage to procure an OEM leather headband, how do you swap it out?

I was thinking about replacing the entire assembly. Headband with the "L" and "R" on it, and swap the entire thing. Im assuming the connecting rods slide right out when you remove the rubber end caps.
???

Agreed... an RS-1 headband assembly would be ideal.

Yeah, it's actually one of the downfalls of Grado's. Those caps fall off and you're screwed. I had to put some electrical tape on to replace the caps.

The cool thing about the RS-1 (and HP-1000 series) is the aluminum "O" as opposed to the plastic "C" which ever other phone has...even the RS-2 unfortunately.

From pictures it looks like the RS-1s actually have square rods...or maybe RS-2 headband would be ideal

I thought a while back Grado started to require that you send your headphones in for headband replacements.

the rods should've came something like this:

Grado 325

not some plastic cap at the end.
