Better Conditioners then the P-300 in the <$850 range?

Thread Starter
I have been using a P-300 PC for a little over a year, and while I definitely hear the difference in sound (though I find I don't care much for the multiwave settings), and I'm wondering if given the fact that I elect not to use their special feature I might be better suited using a different conditioner (preferably cheaper). I don't know much about the Richard Gray or Shyunta units, but they seem to be priced pretty similarly.

Any comments on them or other conditioners (maybe transformerless) in a similar price range?

I'll be plugging in a tt motor, phonostage, preamp and CDP.

If you want great results that doesn't restrict sound (very few products can acheive this) it costs some money. I would definitely look at Audio Magic and Shunyata lines, both are passive and do not regenerate/balance power, advantages:
-no noise or heat
-no extra power comsumption
-no power limitation (can connect power amp)
-smaller size, lightweight

Digital gear must be carefully isolated from other gear, this is critical. Just to illustrate I was not initially super impressed with my Audio Magic Stealth until I got the seperate two outlet digital stealth which completely removes digital from other gear.......this really made big improvement and opened my eyes to noise produced by digital gear.

Not sure how you can try different models before buying?????
And of course upgrading wall outlet and dedicted circuit for audio gear is great power system upgrade if you are homeowner

I also recommend the Audio Magic digital mini-stealth. They can be picked up used for around $400 on audiogon. I use one and have my DAC,(which doubles as preamp also) and transport plugged into it. I have my amps directly into two other different outlets. I have used different Chang Lightspeed, Monster, and PS Audio, products and like this the best of all so far.
This said nothing helps more than dedicated outlets on the same 120V phase or there own seperate panel.

Another vote for Audio Magic or Shunyata. Both beat the pants off my PS Audio PP and UO.

Keep the PS-300. Don't use the mulitiwave, go with 60HZ at 119 or 120 volts.
Open up the PS-300 and remove the ferrite rings which the electrical wire is wrapped around. Replace the PS Audio Power Ports (outlets) with Oyeida rhodium over silver, and palladium over gold outlets.
Walla,,,, a better sounding machine while not giving up your power regeneration benefits. Also only use the PS-300 for your preamp and source. Plug amps directly into wall.

Hey Gopher, any luck picking anything so far? I think I'm starting to look in your price range too

So the AM Stealth seems great for sources, but how are you guys (Tom, Len, DA) using it in conjunction with your conditioners for your amps. Do you have the Stealth plugged into one wall outlet and your other conditioner plugged into the other? and what specific conditioners would you rec. for amps?

Is there a similarly priced option for amps, such that the $400 AM Stealth + $____ amp conditioner could fall within Gopher's price range?

hope i'm not dragging this too far off topic. thanks!

For my speaker system I have three seperate designated 20 amp outlets on the rear wall. I have the AM plugged into the midddle one and the DAC, and Transport plugged into it. My mono blocks each have there own 20 amp line. I use no conditioners on the amps.
For headphones I use one outlet. The AM goes into the top and then the digital source into it, and again, nothing for the amp. AM also makes a two outlet mini Stealth purafier that runs about $400 used. You could get one of these or one of the six outlets Stealths for your amp or amps.
