Power Conditioner w/more than 4 outlets? - Page 2

Thanks again Jeff. For $170, the Juice Bar might be a good option.

However, for about $350-400 I could pick up a UPC200, or

anyone have any thoughts?

thanks again for all of your help, everyone

A Juice Bar isn't much more than a well built power strip from what I can tell. I don't think you'll get much in the way of cleaning your power, but at the very least it won't degrade it much, if any. Using it in conjunction with an Ultimate Outlet will give you several outlets with precleaning from the UO. From everything that I've read, the UPC200 is a suped up, new and improved version of an UO. If it has enough outlets, go for that if sticking with the PS Audio approach. My thinking is that using the Juice Bar plugged into the UO you already own is the best way to stretch your dollar. I have friends that use Shunyata Hydra, PS Audio and Richard Gray gear and they seem happy - but it's all considerably more expensive gear. I don't know anyone who uses the Monster unit you linked to... I just have no experience with it. It may be great stuff... but their literature isn't very up front about how and what does what in it. At least PS Audio explains the thinking behind their power equipment. I see a lot of words written by Monster:

But, what have they actually told you? Compare that to the stuff at PS Audio's site.

If you're looking at Monster you may want to check out Belkin's new products as they've launched a new line in what appears to be a challenge to Monster.
8 outlet consoles starting at $250.

I have a powervar 12 amp that has 6 outlits.I am thinking about selling it.

It has been heavily modified. All the receptacles have been replaced with porter ports( These are a special order un- plated 20 amp version. Other outlets that have plated connectors (Nickel, Silver or Tin), are designed to hold up in harsh chemical and / or oxygen rich environments. This is not only unnecessary for our audio systems, it harms the quality of sound)
.A silver plated iec was installed so you can use any powercord--.It has dynamat for dampening and ERS emi/rfi cloth .The unit also has a sonicap .47 cap installed on each receptacle.

I had replaced the PS Audio UPC-200 Power Center with this unit.I had compared them both and this did eveything much better--much blacker background.

The unit is in very good condition.I may put it on audiogon soon and can provide pictures.

My price would be $325 FIRM which is a steal for what you would get.The weight is 45lbs.

You do know that you can get that from www.Chumbo.com for these prices:
Retail at Best Buy and Dell.com // Chumbo price
PF30 - $249//$119 shipped
PF40 - $549//$229 shipped
PF60 - $749//$339 shipped

I am getting the PF40 for that wonderful price of $229 as soon as I buy books for school and see how much money I have left over.

Wow $119 shipped! That has to be THE best deal in affordable power conditioning (if it performs well?). direct link
With the amount of value packed into these boxes it's hard to believe this is a company that makes cables!

PF40 $229 Sweet
Level 4 Power Protection; Phase 4 PureFilter Circuitry with isolated Digital, Video, Audio and HiCurrent Filters; Advanced Overvoltage Protection; Central LCD Control Panel includes voltage and current meters; Console design fits perfectly in your Home Theater cabinet; HiCurrent Outlet for high-power amplifiers; Network Protection (RJ45) for Media Streamer Support; 13 Outlets including convenient front auxiliary outlet; 2 Line telephone/pay-per-view protection with splitter; 6490 Joules of Surge Protection; 330, 000 Amp Maximum Spike Amperage; 3 Pairs of Gold Coaxial Connections for coaxial cable line protection; 12' SD750 HiCurrent Power Cord with right angle plug; UL1449 Rated.

I'm kind of curious now about it's affect on sound, how good or not good it is.
I might try one later. I've always wanted to know how much current is passing through too.
And it looks good!

I should mention that I've ordered Belkin's ridicously cheap PureAv Silver Series interconnect just to hear it.
