I've been looking for some where nice to sit my phones when im not using them.
Preferably out where i can see them ( im not spemnding that much money on hd-580's and then put them in a drawer.
This is also something that will sit next to my MG-Head that i am ordering next week

Ive had a few ideas, and just wanted to see what you guys thought and what you guys already use.

idea 1 - a STAX style stand made out of aluminium ( would match my handmade boltz stlye cd rack )

idea 2 - a glass head ( but where to find one in OZ ?)

idea 3 - A skull - this is my fav so far i was thinking either human skill or a gorilla skull from http://www.skullsunlimited.com/

idea 4 - a von neumann style head ( love the way the nose etc are done on some of those heads - but again where to get one with no mics in it )

I've got to flush them all away,
I feel the demons rage,
I must clean them all away

I use a big white plastic hook with a self adhesive back that I stuck it to the side of my desk. Cheap, easy, and convenient; obtainable from household hardware stores. Not a conversation starter like a skull of course.

why not a wooden head?

DIY, out of a massive block of course...

Hmmm a wooden head would be very cool
making it would be an intersting experience, as i havent done a great deal of carving.

Man, I wish I hadn't sold my digital camera. I've been wanting to take pictures of my now-almost-complete headphone rig with stand and really cool modded earphone holders If anyone has an extra digital camera sitting around...

fbleagh: Actually, I wouldn't recommend the use of a head-shaped stand, because this will eventually flatten the earpads and make the headphones less comfy with the time. The hook-solution should work fine as long as your Senn doesn't have an automatically adjusting headband, as most AKGs do.

I've been thinking about one of those plastic hooks next to or on my audio equipment rack. Not really keen on the artificial head for a stand... I just don't like the looks, and it'd flatten the pads out, like someone else said. Right now, my 580s just sit on top of the Max.

I have all of my audio equipment on a £200.00 5 shelf Target rack. When I am not using them the Senheiser 565's sit quite nicely on one side of the posts

When I was not so much into headphones I just used to chuck them on the floor, kick them under the bed etc etc

I now of course know better....

Before I made my own, I was looking all over the 'net for headphone holders, and I just found a bunch of URLs:

On a couple of those, you need to scroll down until you get to the holder.

I'd suggest using a stuffed animal. Looks pretty cool IMO. You could probably find one that would fit your Senns perfectly.
