I realise the amount can be 5x the amount to build a cmoy.

All I have to say is that their awesome pair of headphones. Great sound stage, vocals are a bit too strong, you can feel the bass other than hearing it, and great for movies. Comfort is 4.5...

I know people bash on Bose because of they're over priced and I agree. I believe these retail for about $150 or so and I paid $85 for these due to employee discount at where I work. With that...

I bought these headphones as an upgrade from my BD DT-770 Pro 80Ohm. The are better in all areas, except that the right can can't handle bass. As soon as there are low bass it just becomes a...

It can also be a lot less than that. Here are several things, off the top of my head, to save *some* money.
1) Opamps - OPA637/627's arent cheap. Consider using one of the lower priced models.
2) Dont stack the buffers. Unfortunately, they are still like 6 bucks a piece and the pimeta uses 3 of them.
3) Avoid the botique parts.
4) Use the cheaper alps pot that tangent stocks. Saves you the cost of a power switch (easier to case, imo, as well).
5) Go with a cheaper plastic case. The serpac cases are nice.
That's just off the top of my head. I can't remember the cost of my two but the first (cheaper) wasnt that much but its definately worth it.
