CD/SACD player with balanced outputs?

I currently have a Trivista and with the imminent arrival of an SDS-XLR without a balanced source I won't be able to enjoy it to it's fullest extent.

Any recommendations upto say around £3-4k ($5-7k) or less?

I don't think I can realistically start looking until early next year (cash is tight!!)

Hi Rob, is Sacd a priority?

Or will it be mainly used as a redbook player?

The new Cary 306/300 looks pretty interesting. Don't think it's shipping yet though.

In your price range, you also have the Accuphase players and the Teac Esoteric DV-50S.

Classe Omega SACD2. I'll be getting mine in next week. You could also get a modded unit. My Underwood Denon 3910 ran about $5K.

I find that most high end players will have balanced outs.

Your post also just pormpted me to order a Maestro XLR. Love my maxed MPX3, but after hearing Mikhails balanced amp at the San Jose, meet, I'm dying for a balanced amp. Footprint on the SDS-XLR was a bit big for me, but if I didn't have so much stereo equipment, I would have gone that way as well.

Mine is in the smaller Maestro type cases that Mikhail does for the SDS-XLR.

Thanks for the other suggestions.I'd like a player that's natural and smooth sounding.

The SDS XLR cases are much bigger than the Maestro case. They look similar, but are actually almost twice as big. In wither case.... they make for some pretty big headphone amps.

Does this means you are selling the tri vista?

I think you could keep your tri vista and use that as a transport. I think it was pretty decent.

If you want something full sounding more akin to a vinyl rig then try maybe a DCS combo.

I used the tri-vista as a transport and a DCS delius/purcell as the dac and upsampler. This gave a very smooth sound. While it does not posess the tonality of the tri vista there was more body to the music and it sounded more organic.

If you drive to my house and pick up my dac, you can take it and lend my dac to connect to your tri vista and see how it performs. Shoot me a PM if you would like to try it.

I am extremely pleased with my Ayre CX-7 Evolution. It has had 5 star reviews everywhere and it has lived up to all my expectations. It is very neutral and musical with no harshness to the sound at all. I paid £1,900 at Radlett Audio in St. Albans which was a great price. I think for just CD reproduction, you would find it hard to get something better for under £3,000.
