question about my M-audio Firewire Solo

Ive got a quick question about my firewire solo for anyone out there who has opened one up, or knows about the inner workings. ...thanks in advance for any advice.

Is the headphone output on the font inferior (SQ) to the dual balanced 1/4" outputs on the back (aside from the fact that the back is balanced)?

ive got monitors hooked up to the back, and im wondering if im loosing anything by using the headphone jack on the front to go to my headphone amp. Im trying to figure out what kind of cable to get for the ppa.

i called m-audio, and the guy said it would be fine, but then he said that the only reason for a headphone amplifier was to get two headphone jacks! so im not sure i want to trust his advice.

ive also tried A/Bing the two, but it takes so long to switch that i am never realy sure what im hearing

Just bought one for dirt cheap today hoping to use it as a head phone amp of sorts not ideal but given the price I think it will do for now ath m50. Shure 530
