opamp adapter question

I am about to embark on modding my Denon 2900 by replacing stock opamps with opa627bp's. I realize now that there is not enough room for BrownDog's Single-to-dual Op-AMP Adapter DIP version.

So how can make this work? Are there any DIY Single-to-dual Op-AMP Adapter DIP recipes out there where I can put one opa627 on top and one on the bottom sort of like the BrownDog Single-to-dual Op-Amp Adapter that converts two SO8 single channel op-amps to 8-pin DIP dual op-amp footprint.

Just use that one and grab the chip in SOIC format. It wont fit in dip8 otherwise.

something like this

Really your only choice is the single SOIC to dual DIP adapter, they aren't that hard to solder and I've explained plenty of tips on how to deal with smd at home in previous posts

Not the best soldering job because it was my first try at this kind of fine work but I think this is what you are trying to do:

The bottom is a dummy from a dead chip that I grinded away to get rid of the previous chip and connections, but you could just as well use a DIP socket for the bottom.

Thanks Chillysalsa, that's what I'm looking for!

Do you really want to be doing that with £13 opamps? Maybe alright for 741s, but not a good plan for the old OPA627...

Yeah, it's a little unnerving doing that to 627's, but if you're planning to use them for something permanent, why not. NOTE: the bottom one used for the pins was an already dead 2134, I just didn't have spare sockets to just instead.

I haven't tried a 2 x single SOIC > Dual DIP8 adapter using this method:

but it should work just as well..

I would be very cautious about bending soic pins out at the angles shown
on the corner pins of chillysalsa's effective looking adapter as the risk of
fracture can be very high.
I have experienced this myself doing some creative pin work on a dil chip.
Whilst everything looked ok, I felt sure something gave when bending the pin.
Close inspection revealed a fine crack, very little of the pin remained solid.

Folks, I need an SOIC (SMD)-domain two-singles-to-double adapter like above EXCEPT not be a vertical 3D-me-to-the-max job! More like Brown Dog's DIP singles-to-dual, but all SOIC of course, and very low profile if possible (i.e., 2D geometry as much as possible). Any ready-made (Brown Dog-like) solutions (products for sale) out there?
