Lucky you - all my exes couldn't cook as well as I do, and they got fat in the process, even accusing me of deliberately doing that to drive away competition  :p

Having the support of your partner makes it easier to learn, because you are willing to give recipes a try knowing that even if it is a disaster, you won't be ridiculed.

Just cook. The worst thing that could happen is one or two meals are not worth eating. So learn from mistakes and just go for it.You will surprise yourself. And nothing quite shows love like cooking for her does..

I didn't take any photos, but today I made Bacon Jam. It was awesome.

Bacon.. JAM?!

I was about to scold you for not taking photos. Then, I realised - If I had made such an amazing thing, it wouldn't have lasted long :P

Bacon in jam form...hmm. You know, I've been looking for something new to spread on the bread in my bacon sandwiches, and this just might be the thing.

It made headlines this year for being the source of food poisoning at the Toronto CNE fair: Maple Bacon Jam

All that aside it has hundreds of uses, condiment (pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese), dunking (apple slices, sausages), with cheese, as a glaze or straight into tart shells.

Even if it gave me food poisoning and I died, it would be worth it.

I'd spread that on the bottom of a brioche bun, stack lettuce, sirloin burger, mozzarella, roasted tomato, onions fried along with the burger, then the top bun lined with BBQ sauce.

Look good?

It was good.

It certainly does look good. I'd say about four or five of those would make a good-sized meal.
