I see on their site the new CD is due out August 16, called "Don't Tread On Me".
I really like 311 and am looking forward picking it up, anyone heard a sneak peak and want to share??

But do you consider 311 to be "music"?

one guy raps and one sings, some tracks sound rock, some rap, some reggae, some reggae/trance, etc. ....hmmm we could really dissect this one!

Nothing wrong with mixing it up a little.

I play 311 from time to time and enjoy it.

Not an obsessive fan or anything, though, so I don't know anything about the latest album...

311 raps about things other than "candy shops" and getting girls to come to their cribs to lick their "lollipops"

can't wait for the new album. have to say, I like the older stuff a lot better though.

That was probably my favorite album but their last one was also really good (just too short)

I really dig "Soundsystem," that's a fantastic cd. Love the guitar work especially.

Heck yes!

Yeah man i love 311 one of my favorite bands . Such a positive vibe in their music thats kinda hard to find in music today, especially rock.

I rate their CD's from My Favorite to my least favorite:
Grassroots
From chaos
311
evolver
transistor
soundsystem

and I can't wait for the new CD.

Why do so many 311 fans hate soundsystem?

with all respect to your little list there, you didnt even mention their first album???

amazes me how rarely "music" gets mentioned by supposed 311 fans. released 12 years ago, hands down the best 311 album and one of the best albums from the 90's. you're no fan if you havent heard hydroponics...

with the release of the ST album, they took a lyrical nosedive. only albums i still own are "music" and "grassroots"

Opinions vary my friend, I like all of their albums. Of course I have my favorites but I think they have definitely matured since hydroponics. Many bands never make an album as good as the first but I think 311 is one of the few exceptions. Each of their albums have a bit of a different vibe so I think they are able to stay interesting by doing this and you really can't date their sound which is one of the great things about this reggae/rock style.

What do you think of the new song on their site (I posted the link a couple spots up)?
