I recently acquired a Woo Audio 3 amp. I bought it used and it came with a JAN-Philips 6922, another 6922 that isnt marked, and a JAN CAHG 6080WA power tube. What tubes do you think make the Woo really shine? I am using Senn 650's. I like the way the amp sounds but of course I am never satisfied.

I loved these buds to bits, they were the perfect everyday headphone. Small and light and comfortable and barely protruded past the outside of your ears. I like the fact that no one can really...

I enjoy the 6DJ8 amperex PQ and the Tung-Sol 7236. For me this offers everything in sound.

I use the 6BZ7 and the 6DJ8 and enjoy them both. Right now I am using some nice nos Amperex PQ 6DJ8's that I have had for some time. That is one thing I really enjoy about tubes, is the ability to change them as your mood or emphasis changes. One day it is the 6BZ7 and the next. . . but the 6BZ7 is a real jewel and is so very inexpensive.

I shuffle between the stock Phillips and a pair of Amperex bugleboys.
I would like to try some more. Suggestions ?
Thanks!

The 6BZ7's/6BQ7's are inexpesive and can impress with the sound. the Siemens 6922 are fine and then there is the 7308 industrial grade of the 6DJ8.

I use Tung Sol 5998 for power tube and Siemens 6dj8 for input tubes. For power tube, I have tried RCA 6080 and Phillips 6as7g. I couldn't tell the difference, both sounded the same. For input tubes, I have tried Amperex PQ (U.S. white label), bugle boys, two kinds of orange globes, and Mullard cv2493. To me, the Siemens had the best bass and were the least fatiguing of all those input tubes. What made the most difference to me, however, was the 5998 tube. It just opened everything up. I want to try the 7236 but from what I've read, I'm thinking it's gonna be too bright.

My Woo buzzed with 6BZ7's, but it didn't matter because I found I much prefered the sound of 6dj8/6922's in the input positions. I've got a pair of Amperex 6922 USA white labels that I pop in from time to time, and it's a sweet sounding tube with excellent treble and bass, and the tube does acoustic music especially well. My current everday input tubes are early '70s Sylvania 6dj8's. For the power tube I really like the Tung Sol 5998. I didn't care for the 6AS7's, and I tried the 7236 and while there certainly were some positives to the 7236 such as transparency and bass, ultimately I found it a little bright sounding and I prefer the more tonally rich and dynamic sound of the 5998.
