It's all audiophile pseudoscience.

BTW, I also believe in voodoo dolls. I have a voodoo doll made in the image of my amp pinned above my stereo setup. Every night I stick a new pin on the doll, and I swear that makes my system sound better. And depending on the color of the pin I use, I can change the sound of my system from warm to cold to smooth, etc.

Come on people, this is the type of thing the outside world makes fun of us for. Can't we keep quiet about such things?

I think ampgalore is doing Head-Fi an invaluable service with his knowledge. And, because of his responses I believe many Head-Fiers will save a multitude of time, and money. Always good to hear your opinions. Thank you ampgalore!

I was being extremely sarcastic. This is the only way I can get around the rules to publicly show his obvious inexperience in dealing with cables, and everything else related to audio.

Probably a good idea. I notice that irony tends to get lost around here.

We have to remember that common sense isn't so common around these parts...

I would like to have such a cable cooker, because I make cables myself. As stated on the site, usually interconnects with their low currents take a very long time for burning in. On the other hand, $650 is a lot of money for something you only use every now and then. Having heard (subtle) differences with cables after burn-in, I don't consider it nonsense though.

Help me out... I can believe that changing cables help in audio signal transmission. (my cable is 0.0002% more conductive than yours!)

But seriously what is the science behind "burning in" cables?

EVERYTHING in audiophile lala land needs burn in, cables, speakers, amps, preamps, ICs, etc. Nothing ever sounds right without burning in.

Just don't burn out your cables.

Cable Cooker or 40 CDs? I just don't know 0% inprovement vs. 100s of hours of enjoyment. Whatabout Cable Cooker or CD Player? Hmmm, decisions decisions.

I'm not really into cable burn-in, so don't have much experience in this respect, but the one I've made with the Zu Mobius has more or less convinced me that it's more than just snake oil. I'm not sure if it would matter to everybody's ears, so maybe it wouldn't matter to yours (?), but it's a bit biased to «know» that it makes 0% improvement. Of course you can argue as well that the enjoyment with any Sony earbud and 100 CDs is greater than with a HD 650 and 0 CDs... and the same goes for CD players or anything you want to through in as examples for better investments. I don't really want to defend the cable cooker since I don't know it, but the idea behind it is quite convincing, as long as you have experienced cable burn-in effects or have an open mind. After all there are people who think all cables sound the same, and there are even some who can hear no difference between electronic components or refuse to do so, for ideologic reasons.

Fair enough
