Moon Audio Blue Dragon II - opinions?

About to bite the bullet for the Blue Dragon II replacement cable for my HD650's. Anyone have any opinions on the cable? I've read Ross' impressions, but I just want to make sure that this is a correct purchase ($175 for a cable is mucho moolah.)

Thanks

Drew is pretty admit about the Blue Dragon being for the 600s and the silver dragon being best for the 650s... never prodded much to find out why but it might be worth an inquirey (well I mean the whole silver v copper would make since knowing the sonics of the two but he might have a more detailed explanation)

One of the only reasons why I went for the HD650's were because the SA5000's were too bright; I am wary of buying an all silver cable just for that reason.

I'm stuck between the Zu Mobius (since the Silver Dragon is out of stock) + the Blue Dragon II

fair enough... I would agree with that.

I would suggest the Cardas then as well... it really does help in that department.

... or waiting a week or two for Rnb's newest creation to hit Mall-Fi

I just ordered the Zu's for my 650s so I'll try to chime in on my impressions as well for comparison sakes. We should probably make it relative to the stock cable since it is our only similar point of reference.

I had the Zu Mobius for awhile. The difference it made was pretty big in my opinion. It brings to the Sennheiser sound a vibrant energy that makes it seem like you are hearing more detail (maybe you are!). All the notes are sharper, crisper and more forward. But I found this added brightness to be fatiguing over long listening sessions. This wasn't Grado bright, mind you, but if I wanted bright, I could just listen to Grados. I wanted the Sennheiser trademark dark, laid back characteristic back, and so I went with the Cardas cable. It was just what I was looking for. Smooth and laid back. Different strokes for different folks.

I've been curious about the Blue Dragon II as well but it wasn't available when I went with the Cardas. And the Blue Dragon I was sold out at the time. I'm interested in your impressions as well.

I had the Cardas for awhile and really did not like it with my 600s... I dont know... maybe it didnt pair well with my PPX3... but I am tempted to try the Blue Dragon.

I want something that will make them a bit more open and airy but not kill the bass... the Cardas made it too muddy for me.

i've had the blue dragon v2 for a week now (hd600) and i do like them. if you like the stock cable sound but want more clarity and bass then you would like the blue dragon. i didn't notice a significant increase in the treble extension but the soundstage is huge which is really important to me. from what i've read its on par with the equinox cable sonically (big soundstage, warmth) which is why i bought it.

i had the silver dragon for a couple of months and it had much better speed, detail and clarity than the blue dragon but it sacrified bass impact and was overall to cold and clinical sounding to me.

good luck!

Well, I paid yesterday and there hasn't been a response from Moon Audio yet.. hopefully it ships in the next few days.

My mobius cable is supposed to ship today (2 day fedex). Ordered it last Friday but they needed time to build it - plus the holiday factor.

I really hope that it comes by Friday so I'll have the weekend to evaluate.

What are the differences between the 2 versions?
